New 'X-Files Movie' Photos; Sushi or Italian?

Three new photos from the upcoming "X-Files" movie have surfaced on the web and everyone is wondering what has grabbed Mulder and Scully's attention in them.

Mulder is obviously against the idea and would prefer Italian.

Scully: Mulder, you said you'd drive! I would, but I can't find my car keys!

Scully: Well, it took some doing, but at least I found my keys.

'X Files' trailer released; secretive story details revealed!

The cast of the upcoming "X Files" sequel attended the Paley Festival in Los Angeles and, while sharing more details of the film, revealed the first full trailer for movie. We've got the clip and all the surprising information about how the sequel fits into the "X Files" universe.

[cut="Check out the trailer..."]Despite Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny NOT being there it was enjoyable. Some interesting information about the upcoming movie, but mostly talk of the series AND of course, a look at the trailer.

It was quite similar to the footage you saw from WonderCon with a few key differences:

Less Billy Connoly. In fact, you hardly see him at all.
Mulder and Scully leaning in to kiss! Each other! Yes!
Scully hitting someone with what appears to be a baseball bat. Or maybe it was a french-loaf. Hard to tell. Either way I love it when Scully kicks some ass.'

The people who did attend were as follows: Chris Carter (show creator and director/writer of upcoming movie), Frank Spotnitz (show runner/writer of movie), Mitch Pileggi (AD Skinner), Dean Haglund (Lone Gunman), Nick Lea (Alex Kryceck), Darin Morgan (writer), Glenn Morgan (writer), David Nutter (director), Rob Bowman (director), Howard Gordon (director), Steven Maeda (writer)

Some of the things they shared about the upcoming movie:

The movie takes place 6 years after the end of the series.
Chris Carter wanted to make a 2nd X-Files movie right after the series ended, but a lawsuit prevented him from doing so. According to Chris, the day the lawsuit was settled, he received a call from Fox saying, "Let's make the movie". Unfortunately, they had somehow lost all their notes about the movie. So while this movie is derivative of the one he originally wanted to make, they had to rework it, and are even happier with the results.
It does not yet have a title. Carter knows what he wants to call it but Fox "has other ideas".
Baby William does "not go unconsidered" in the movie
The movie is not a mythology movie (as we've heard) but it is true to everything that has come before

And for those nostalgic for the series, here are some of the interesting tidbits mentioned about the show:

Rob Bowman talked about how the signature dark lighting in the show came from the directors' thinking that the monsters looked crappy when lit properly, so they did their best to hide them as much as possible
Darin Morgan, who also played Fluke-Man in The Host (Season 2) only did it because he was out of work.
When asked if he had a show bible, Carter responded that a bible is a "stupid idea". That explains a lot. Like when an episode completely contradicts something that occurred in a previous episode. (Really Chris? Really?)
The finales of both season 7 and season 8 were filmed without knowing whether they were coming back for another season.
When Carter played the theme song for Glenn Morgan before the show started, Morgan was unimpressed. Chris told Glenn he liked it because it sounds like someone "whistling in a graveyard". Morgan and Carter had similar disagreements about putting "The Truth is Out There" at the end of the title sequence. Morgan didn't get it. Of course he now admits Carter was right on both accounts.
For the first season, Glenn Morgan would go on AOL chatrooms to get fan feedback as soon as episodes aired (remember, this was before the Internet as we know it now). When the show started to get popular, the feedback became vicious and Morgan stopped.
And also - did you know that the pilot episode of The Lone Gunmen, which aired 6 months before 9/11, featured the plot of a plane almost crashing into the World Trade Center?

Whew, well, despite my disappointment about the stars not being there, it was a blast. Thanks to The Paley Center for holding this every year!

Ask Mulder and Scully a Question

On Wednesday night, The X-Files will be at Paleyfest and I will be attending. Since audience members gets to ask questions after the discussion, I will attempt to ask a question posed by a Buzznet user.

By the way, last night I attended a Damages panel. Glenn Close, Ted Danson, and the rest of the cast was there (except for Rose Byrne - dammit!) If you don't watch Damages, I consider it one of the best shows on TV. You still have time to check out the first season on DVD before the second season starts in June.

Foster and Breslin talk about Nim's Island

Buzznet was lucky enough to attend a press conference with Jodie Foster and Abigail Breslin last week to discuss their latest movie, Nim's Island. Jodie talked about filming in Australia with Abigail, playing guitar hero and how she's "nutty as a fruitcake". Abigail talked about not being able to find her shoes. Oh, and the movie of course!

In Nim's Island, Abigail Breslin stars as a young girl living on a remote island with her father (Gerard Butler). When her island is threatened, Nim seeks help from, Alexandra Rover (Jodie Foster), the author of her favorite adventure book. The problem is that Alexandra is quite the opposite of the alterego she has created in her books. She's someone who hardly ever leaves her apartment and is fearful of everything outside.

Nim's Island is in theaters on April 4th. [/cut]
